The Palace of Youth and Sports in Prishtina played host earlier this week to a #EuroVolleyU19W qualifier – with the event accounting for three exciting action-packed days for the local Volleyball community. Turkey eventually emerged on top of the group with three straight wins to secure their participation in the Final Round scheduled for later this summer in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Turkey were on a class of their own at the #EuroVolleyU19W qualifier held in Prishtina, Kosovo

Turkey defeated Hungary 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-21) on Friday and a few hours later, hosts Kosovo delivered one of their finest performances ever in this age group but their opponents from Estonia eventually secure a hard-fought 3-2 (25-17, 21-25, 23-25, 25-19, 15-6) victory.

The next day, Saturday, Hungary proved too strong an opponent for Kosovo, cruising to a comprehensive 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10) victory to cause a second straight loss to the team coached by Lorik Ilazi. On the other hand, Turkey recorded a second straight 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18) victory, this time thumping Estonia.

Turkey secured first place in Pool I after defeating Kosovo 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14) on Sunday. The young ‘Sultans of the Net’ collected maximum nine points from their matches without dropping a single set. Estonia showed a powerful performance to defeat Hungary 3-1 (25-22, 25-12, 25-13, 25-15) and progress to the third and last round of qualifiers.
