The EEVZA zonal qualifier for next year’s #EuroVolleyU18M continued on Wednesday at the state-of-the-art Gazprom Armenia Educational Sports Complex in Yerevan, Armenia.

Poland and Latvia opened the programme of the third competition day, with Poland showing much quality and experience to deliver a comprehensive 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-11, 25-16). Latvia could put up more of a fight in the first set, but after that, Poland’s supremacy was obvious, as they left no chance to their opponents.

Ukraine showed no mercy for hosts Armenia as they cruised to a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-14, 25-5) as well in a very one-sided affair. The third and final match of the day between Russia and Estonia was a bit more intense. Estonia sprung a surprise by taking the first set (25-23); however, Russia regrouped and swept the next three (25-13, 25-19, 25-13) to stay in contention for the sole direct ticket to next year’s European Championship.

Ukraine currently top the charts with three wins from as many games and on Thursday, they play Poland in one of the most-anticipated matches of the tournament. The event in Yerevan is especially important to witness for many young Volleyball players from across Armenia – who can find inspiration from watching some promising peers as despite their young age, they already perform at a very high level.
