Ukraine with a clean sheet in the Golden #EuroLeagueM
Recap
On Sunday the new Leg of Golden #EuroLeagueM was played, this time between Croatia and Ukraine in the beautiful town of Zadar. It was another bad day for the Croatian team as they lost all of their matches so far. The national team of Ukraine was once again better on the field with a new 0-3 win (17-25, 21-25, 22-25).
Ukraine has won yet another match and is still in first place in Pool B with a maximum of 12 points, while Croatia is last with one point. Regardless, they are the known finalist of the Final Four since they are the host of the final event.
Let's dig into today's game… Ukraine got an early advantage of four points in the first set and while Croatia was trying to get back up, they just couldn’t break the Ukraine attack and couldn’t stop their blocks. Even though it seemed as if Croatia is breathing down their necks, Ukrainians managed to always be one step ahead and in the end, managed to close the set with eight points of advantage (17-25).
The Ukrainian dominance continued in the second set. They opened it with a clean sheet (0-4) and kept the four points of the advantage. They even managed to maximize it and were seven points ahead of Croatians at one point. With four killer blocks, the Ukrainian team was giving the Croatians a hard time and they couldn’t break through their attacks. They did manage to reduce the advantage down to four points (21-25).
The third set was a little bit different than the previous two as Croatians were putting the better image on the field. In the beginning, the Ukrainians were continuing with their dominance (4-8) but the Croatians then took the matter into their own hands and then managed to equalize the score (8-8) and even get into the lead. It looked as if Croatians might turn everything around, but Ukrainians got back in the game and won another set (22-25).
