Budapest, Hungary, May 5, 2019. Vasas Óbuda BUDAPEST completed a wonderful season by winning the finals of the Hungarian Extraleague in three straight games against Fatum NYÍREGYHÁZA (3-2, 3-2, 3-0).

The series started with a fantastic five-set thriller in Budapest, and the teams repeated the same display only two days later in Nyíregyháza, where yet again, Vasas Óbuda emerged victorious. In what turned out to be the last game of the finals, Vasas delivered an amazing performance, giving no chance at all to their opponent and securing the title for the first time in six years in front of an amazing crowd.

Vasas Óbuda therefore completed an extremely successful season with their new Polish coach, Jakub Głuszak, who joined the Hungarian team last August. Vasas Óbuda will play in the 2020 edition of the CEV Champions League – doing so for the first time in the club’s history.

Swietelsky BÉKÉSCSABA, winners of the last five editions of the Hungarian League and semi-finalist of the CEV Cup this season, finished third, after beating UTE Volleyball Team BUDAPEST in four games for the bronze medal.
