After 616 days of absence, the CEV Champions League returned to the BLM Group Arena in Trento. The return wass positive for Itas Trentino, that won over Fenerbahce HDI Sigorta Istanbul with 3-2, with a marvellous comeback from 0-2 to 3-2.

By winning this match, Itas Trentino reconfirmed its victory record over the Turkish teams, with ten wins out of eleven matches played overall. 

The MVP of the match was Aaron Russell who scored 18 points with 56% attack efficiency, a block and two aces. For Fenerbahce, Thibault Rossard managed 24 points with 61% attack efficiency, two blocks and two aces.

Uros Kovacevic was able to celebrate his 100^th match in Itas Trentino’s jersey playing the first two sets, but without having the desired influence on the match. The entrance of Cebulj in his place was one of the turning points in the match.

Thanks to this success Trentino Itas has the lead of Pool A and can celebrate its 101^st victory in the European Cups out of 125 matches played, the 67th win out of 85 matches played in CEV Champions League.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Trentino Itas): We had a great match tonight performing a comeback from 0-2 to 3-2 but we do not have to forget what we did in the first two sets, where I was not able to give the right indications to the team. However, we must be very happy with the result.

Hidalgo Oliva (Fenerbahce HDI Sigorta Istanbul): “We started the match on the right foot, taking advantage of the serve. Then Trento improved its attack and caused us some problems. It was a very conflicting match but in the end this is volleyball. Only few points made the difference. It was wonderful playing here in Trento, surrounded by this atmosphere”.
