    Overview

    In Pool C, Jastrzebski Wegiel lead the way on a 4-0 record, but despite the fact that both Russia’s Zenit Kazan and Belgium’s VC Greenyard Maaseik trail with balanced 2-2 records, the Polish team have yet to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. 

    They can do that on Wednesday by winning at home against Zenit as the two contenders meet at 18:00 local time in Jastrzebie Zdroj - with the organisers expecting some 3,000 people to attend the match. In the first leg, Jastrzebski Wegiel managed a 3-2 victory in Kazan.

    The match-up with Zenit may help us secure first place in the pool, so we have something to fight for.

    It was for sure one of the most beautiful evenings in Jastrzębie since I am playing here. Beating Kazan twice in group stage is something big; it shows that the first time was not by chance. We have some good level on our team. Today it was big team effort.

    Full house in Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa in Jastrzębie-Zdrój with more than 3.000 fans marked the big clash Jastrzębski Węgiel against Zenit Kazan. 

    The game went point for point, but the hosts took the initiative, while, one the other hand, Zenit let some unforced errors, mainly at the service line, affect their game. It was a close call in the second set as well, with the guests leading at some point. However, the Polish did not give up easily and to please their fans, emerged victorious at 30-28. Highly motivated Zenit Kazan brought back the intrigue after winning the third part, but Jastrzebski could find the way to the success in the fourt set and, winning, proceed ahead in the quarterfinals.
