VakifBank needed only two sets to secured their spot in the semifinals of #CLVolleyW. After 3-0 victory in Moscow, they put a stamp on the ticket in Istanbul.

The first set was under total control of the home team. They let Dinamo to score only 13 points all, as Isabelle Haak was a leader in scoring on the Turkish side with 7 points. In the next part Russians improved their game in the beginning, but they could not manage to continue it till the end. Natalia Goncharova and Victoriia Chaplina took the responsibility in attack, but it was not enough as VakifBank got back to their playing rhythm. at 25-18 the home team could celebrate the advance to the next round together with the home crowd. The last set did not change anything. Dinamo tried to fight, but they know their situation and team from Istanbul stayed with the good level. MVp of the match was chosen Milena Rasic, who was the best scorer of the game with 17 points all.

VakifBank are now set up to meet either their crosstown rivals Fenerbahce Opet, or Italy's Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the semifinals. However, both legs of that quarterfinal, originally rescheduled to be played in Slovenia, have now been postponed after the whole of Italy was placed into lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Giovanni Guiddetti, head coach of VakifBank Istanbul: I think we did our job today. We are happy that we played volleyball match right now. Even if in the world there is too much going on. At least we give to the people here and at home something else to watch for two hours. Not only bad news. And our team played pretty good. We are happy to be in the semifinal of the CEV Champions League. But everything is uncertain. We don’t know if there will be a semifinal game. Let’s see whats going on in the world.

Isabelle Haak, opposite of VakifBank Istanbul: We are now in the semifinal. That was our goal for a long time. I am happy that we played this well today. We were really determined to win and we really show that. We will see what will happen. When we play semifinal or if we play semifinal. Now on Sunday we will play against Eczacibasi in the Turkish League.
