A lot of action took place in #CEVCupW and #CEVChallengeCupW on Wednesday. After VakifBank securing their spot at the #CLVolleyW Quarters (know more here), the Volleyball fans across Europe were eager to know what will happen in the CEV Volleyball Cup 2023 - Women Quarterfinals, and in the CEV Challenge Cup 2023 - Women Semifinals.
CEV Volleyball Cup 2023 - Women
C.S.M. Volei Alba Blaj, Savino del Bene Scandicci and THY Istanbul secured their place at the semifinals of the CEV Volleyball Cup 2023 - Women.
THY Istanbul became the first team of the day to book their ticket to the next stage of the competition. The Turkish side seized a 3-0 win over the French Volley Mulhouse Alsace, repeating the same result of the home match, won last week in France, and are already looking forward to the semi-finals challenge.
Canadian opposite Kiera Van Ryk and American outside hitter Madison Kingdon Rishel were THY ISTANBUL’s leading scorers with 15 points each, while German outside hitter Hanna Orthmann added 10 points to the tally of the home team.

Savino del Bene Scandicci entered the away match against SC Potsdam with a clear advantage of 3-0 from the first match. The Volleyball fans in Palazzo Wanny in Firenze enjoyed a real spectacle on Wednesday. The hosts took the first two sets, which was enough for their qualification for the semis. They lost a rhythm for a set, losing the next one, but came back in the fourth.
CS Volei Alba BLAJ also joined the family of the semi-finalists, prevailing at 3-2 over the team of Budowlani Lodz. In the first match, the Romanians seized a 3-1 win, and with two victories in their pocket, continue ahead.
The last quarter-final match will take place tomorrow, Match 2 (Thursday). Olympiacos Piraeus will host C.S.M. Targoviste at 19:30 in Melina Merkouri Rentis sports hall. In the first encounter between the teams, C.S.M. Targoviste won at 3-2.
CEV Challenge Cup 2023 - Women
Reale Mutua Fenera CHIERI and C.S.M. Lugoj will lock horns in the Big Finale of this year’s edition at the CEV Challenge Cup 2023 - Women.
The Italians arrive at the Final after beating in the semifinal matches the team of VfB Suhl Thüringen: 3-0 in the home match and 3-1 in the away.
C.S.M. Lugoj, on the other hand, did their job in the away match, beating their opponents of Jedinstvo Stara Pazova in straight sets. A very important result, in the light of the 3-2 victory from the first leg.
Reale Mutua Fenera CHIERI and C.S.M. Lugoj will meet on the court in the home match of the Final on March 15, while the re-match will take place a week later - on March 22.
