Vakifbank's Gabi in outstanding form this season

Going into the return leg of the Champions League Playoff, both Turkish teams look to be the favourites after getting wins away from home, while Developres Rzeszow will need to push hard if they are to overcome the straight-sets loss and take this matchup into a Golden Set.

“First of all, we are happy to play in front of our spectators again. We are happy to play in Turkey even though we still feel very sorry and very concerned about the earthquake disaster and we cannot forget but life brings us to play this match in CEV Champions League. This is very important and we want to go on in this tournament. The team is recovering from more injuries. We are ready to play against Lodz. They are not an easy opponent so we are not expecting an easy match in Istanbul”

VakifBank Istanbul Headcoach

In the CEV Volleyball Cup Women’s quarterfinals, THY Istanbul and Savino del Bene Scandicci both took straight-sets wins in the first matches and with that a huge step towards qualification into the semifinals. The two Romanian teams, CSM Targovite and CS Volei Alba Blaj are going away from home this week and trying to hold on to the wins achieved earlier.

The CEV Challenge Cup semifinals sees Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri from Italy with one foot into the Final of the competition after a win away from home in just three sets, while the second semifinal is still very much in the air as the Romanians from CSM Lugoj managed to win two sets in the first leg and will be confident about their chances on home court.

Rounding off the week is the first leg of the CEV Challenge Cup Men’s Final taking place in Tel Aviv in a sold out arena. Regardless of the result of this first match, we will definitely not be able to count any of the teams out of the battle until the final serve.
