Germany and Terville Florange win annual Novotel Cup in Luxembourg

Luxembourg, December 30, 2017. The 2018 edition of the annual Novotel Cup held in Luxembourg City ended on Friday with the last round of matches, with Germany’s U20 national team and France’s Terville Florange OC finishing on top of the men’s and women’s standing.
This year the tournament featured three teams per gender – playing each other two times in a double round robin system. Germany lost their first match with England (2-3) but soon made amends for that setback by scoring a 3-1 victory in their second matchup with the English side. Germany recorded two 3-1 victories in their matches with hosts Luxembourg to claim the top spot on a 3-1 win-loss record followed by England (2-2) and Luxembourg (1-3).
In the women’s competition, Terville Florange OC completed a clean sweep of their four matches, dropping only two sets in their opening match with San Marino on Wednesday where they came back from a 0-2 deficit. San Marino finished the tournament in second place while hosts Luxembourg had to be content with third after taking only one set from the four matches they contested.
