Luxembourg, August 19, 2020. World and European champion Tijana Malesevic has announced her retirement from competitive sport at the age of 29. Malesevic is a 2016 Olympic silver medallist with Team Serbia – with whom she claimed a historic global crown in 2018 as well as two EuroVolley gold medals in 2011 and 2017.
Malesevic has travelled the world throughout her career with a resume including spells in the national leagues of countries such as Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Romania and, most recently, Indonesia.
However, Tijana’s success story has much to do with the Serbian national team and started at a very young age, when she won the European League title in 2009 and 2011. She was a member of the team coached by Zoran Terzic for about a decade.

Earlier this year, we could catch up with Tijana and her best friend Brankica Mihajlovic during the lockdown resulting from the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Tijana had just returned home from Indonesia and she was self-isolating at home at that time, but she did not hint at any retirement plans.
The Volleyball family will be missing such an extrovert and outgoing personality and we wish Tijana all the best in her future endeavours and ‘second life’ off the Volleyball court!
