Helsinki, Finland, April 1, 2014. Finland’s elite club LP KANGASALA announced on Friday that former Belgian Volleyball star Virginie De Carne – who was also the Tournament Director of the 2015 CEV DELA Volleyball European Championship – Women together with Peter Blangé – has been appointed as the coach of their women’s top team.

This is the start of a ‘second life’ for Virrie – as De Carne is known in the Volleyball community – who will be making her debut in Finland’s top division after maturing a great experience with a number of young Volleyball players from this same country. De Carne has indeed been sharing her passion for Volleyball as well as her knowledge and experience to turn into a real role model as Finland’s Volleyball stars in the making pursue their ultimate goal of a professional career in the sport they love.

During her competitive career she was one of the world’s best opposite players and now she wants to pass on her winning mentality and attitude to the team, hoping that – who knows!? – LP KANGASALA will participate in the 2017 edition of the revamped CEV Volleyball Champions League, which will be open to all national champions.

Ismo Tahvanainen, the current head coach of LP KANGASALA, said: “We were looking for something new in our club. Virginie has good connections in Europe, she is familiar with top level Volleyball, understands it and is interested in developing women’s Volleyball in Finland.”

“I am honoured to be the head coach of this club,” Virginie said. “I would like to sincerely thank the club president Jorma Malm for this great opportunity. I am very motivated for this new chapter of my life and I will work with the team to share the experience I got from playing in the most competitive national leagues in Europe. I am very happy because the club decided to support my plan to further develop the VDC Volleyball Academy and I am sure that together we will take the younger players to a professional level.”
